Hi guys,

I'm brand new to the forum and just purchased a 66 Hardtop Tbird today. I have been trying to find an answer to this question. What is the easiest way for me to tell what Tranny it's got. I know there were atleast two different ones used from late 65 to 66 I believe. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Hi, always good to get an image of the transmission or at least the sump - then you can find images of that era of transmission on the net - its how I did mine! I've a 62 which uses a cruise o matic (pre C4) but there are two sizes, the sump gasket was the initial clue having brought the wrong filter kit!!

If I'm not mistaken the Cruise O matic has 15 bolts around the pan and the C6 has 17 I believe. I just figured it out by looking at the gasket online. I check my pan tomorrow. Thanks.
