Good day all
The time has come to refresh the engine in my 57 with auto trans bird.
My question for the masses is this, can the engine and trans be pulled out as one unit or does trans have to be separated.
Radiator is out, water pump and spacer will be removed from engine front.
I do have an engine hoist and engine stand.
Thanks in advance for any assistance
Roger

If you don't already have one get an engine hoist leveler, $50 at Northern Tools and others. Makes pulling the engine a one man job.

I removed mine with a main chain fall and a small come-a-long as you do need to tilt the engine/transmission as they are removed. The leveler described above is probably a more elegant way of doing it.

Just did my own all in one piece by myself and used the leveler as well. Didn't remove the water pump. Not too bad of a job from start to finish getting everything out was 1/2 day by myself. I did drain the trans before removing the package. Saved a mess of oil.

Thanks for that tip,
Much of a project to separate engine and trans once out of the car??
Tks
