Thunderbird Year
1957
I have a '57 292. Im changing gaskets (it sat for 45 years). I found the new gaskets do not have every hole enabled. There are a few passages that would be blocked. I also found that some have small holes ( like a drill bit) where the passage is the size of a dime or so. Should I leave the gasket "as is" or should I make sure all the passages are enabled. There are a couple that "dead end" and am not worried about those. I have colored in the places that are in question.

I added the model year of the car to your subject.

I would buy a new one that also comes with restrictive holes that keep the manifold cooler so it doesn't burn the paint.

If your sure they are the correct gaskets try turning them in different directions. They are made to fit in only one way.

Ive turned them different ways but its the same. Also, "90 degree corner to top front" is how they are installed. I had these on before and it ran but rear main seal leaked so that is why I have to reinstall new ones. I got them from Larrys Thunderbird in Ca. They have been great with everything else. I called them and they said it was factory specs. I heard these things run hot so thought I would put it out there and see what everyone thought.

Since the head blots are different lengths, make sure that you install them in the proper position.
