I have gotten 2 different pieces of information on the size of the threads on the Temperature and Oil pressure sending units, one says it is 1/4"-18 NPT the other is 3/8"-18 NPT. I have a 1956 Tbird and want to know what the thread size is for the 2 sending units? Thanks for any help. Jerry

ECK block, according to Ford y blocks John Mummert were used in Tbirds in 55 and 56. See attached my 292 is an ECK block. I just jacked it up, crawled under and measured the o.d. of the remaining threads on the oil sending unit, with a Brown & Sharpe dial caliper. The o.d. measured .532", which is very near the .540" machinist handbook specs for the major diameter of 1/4-18 NPT. The 3/8-18 NPT is spec at .675"major diameter. I didn't pull the water temp unit to verify that hole due to throttle linkage bracket20181101_173229.jpg. But im pretty darn confident it's 1/4-18 NPT.

Ive been digging for the old temp sending unit for last hour with no luck. Suppose I could have pulled the throttle bracket and sending unit quicker. After looking at pictures of the temp sending unit im no longer confident the threads are 1/4-18. But that doesn't change anything with the measurements of the oil pressure unit. Call any of the little bird parts suppliers and they'll pull one and let ya know.
