Thunderbird Year
1956
My soft top never had the front locating pins that centers it on the windshield frame. Purchased the pins that are threaded but top bow has hole for them but hole diameter is larger then pin and is not threaded. What am I missing here? This is the original soft top and not a reproduction. Holes are approximately .335" while pins have a 1/4 -28 thread on them.

On your future posts you don't need to include the make & model of your car as this is a Ford Thunderbird site.

Purchased the pins from where? Photos of the pins in question would probably help.

Did you contact the seller and ask them this question?

PS a good title will help you get more replies, when people see "soft top front centering pins" they probably think you want to buy some. I revised your title to summarize your post.

I'm missing the side latches on my soft top. I have a hard time looking left & right with it up, so I usually leave it down.
When I have researched my car, I think there is an "early" 56 top and a "late" 56 top. I don't know, but is it possible Ford used two sizes of pins during the model year?

The difference between the early and late 1956 tops is the addition of a brace on each side of the top over the side windows to keep the top from sagging when the windows are down. There was no reason to change the locating pins. The pins are the same for all 3 years.
