Window part on a 56 Tbird

I have a picture of the top part of the window with a hole in it like something goes there. It is the same top and bottom and both doors. Does anyone know why it is this way or is something missing? Thanks for any help Jerry

that is for the windwing hinge to fit on . should be 2 on each post
 
They are wind deflectors. They work like a vent window on most older cars
