I have researched that a trailer hitch is available for the T bird that will haul up to 2000lbs and handle a 200lb tongue weight. I plan to pull a 35 foot trailer with a sailplane in it which weighs 1063lbs including trailer. The cost is 129.99 for hitch/receiver/ball and 109.99 for side electronic box for directiuonals so I don't fry the car's electrical system. Anybody out there hauling anything bigger than a jet ski? I really dont think the trailer should be towed behind the bird. This trailer seems a bit heavy and may stress the braking system and I wonder what it will do to the strut system underneath the car? remember it needs to be torqued to 47 foot/lbs

Just a word of caution - p.144 of the owner's manual advises a maximum trailer weight rating of 1000lb, with a maximum trailer tongue weight of 100lb. If you overload it, you may find your nose pointing skyward. 🙂

I've pulled my reproduction Mullins trailer with my 56 and 02 Birds. Since this picture was taken, I've painted my trailer to match the cars. There is very little tongue weight, as I only carried a few coolers and lawn chairs in the trailer. I haven't bitten the bullet yet for that wiring harness, but it's on the list.

agreed. i have a magellan handheld that is ok on a hiking or jogging trail but useless in the car. a friend just bought an infinity which has one of the alpine systems, and the one trip we went on it was beautiful and worked flawlessly. but it was one trip where we knew where we going anyway. i've also heard good reports on the magellan system that hertz has installed in their rental units. but i do intend to preview each before i make a decision. until then, mapquest.

Going back thru some of the old postings I cane across your traiter picture. Can you tell me where you got it and how much it cost? I am close by in Austin (close by Texas standards that is)

thanks
