Thunderbird Year
2005
boot

I have a '02 Bird (T-Bird Blue/full accent) and one of the snaps tore out of my boot the first time I used it. Ford replaced it with an updated boot that is much easier to store and use. I don't know if it's an '03 or '04 boot, but I'm very happy with it. My wife and I returned yesterday from a trip to New Orleans for my daughter's graduation from Tulane ($$ellebration!). The boot rolls up and has a velcro strap to hold it that way. When the top was up we stored it in the top "well" and it did not block the view at all.
It's easy to install and looks great.

The top boot you mention seems just like mine for the 03 bird. snaps on front and sticks under lip on rear with velcro strap.

Also the ordering guide 2004 says merlot and mint green. Anyone have any idea as to the exact or close to colors?

Sounds like the one!

My guess on the green is it will be a modern version of "Sea Foam Green", in my opinion a very pretty and appropriate color for a 'Bird. Merlot is probably just that-the color of Merlot wine.

What, no Torch Red interior with the new Platinum Silver exterior?

I just read the order codes for the new 2004 bird and I am surprised that they decided not to offer the
Torch Red interior (Partial or Full) with the new Platinum Silver exterior. Instead they decided to offer the Light Sand interior trim as on option.

I always thought that the red interior with a silver exterior was a "classic" combination as most auto makers who make two seater cars offer this combo. I also can not see Light Sand working well with a silver exterior. Who made this decision? I plan to send a note to Ford to suggest they re-think this choice. Maybe the 50th anniversary model year (2005) will have fixed this "oversight".

Silver with red would be my choise although Merlot or black with sand would be striking, especially with burlled wood where the aluminum details are.
