Just curious how Ford works verus GM. Like
I said in the Chat, GM will not let an
individual use one of their trademark
logos. They have to be licensed and pay
a royality to GM. What the individual
said was they could make a variation of
the Corvette C-5 logo. Well who wants
their take on the logo.

Yeah, when I found out my neighbor had the computer/embroidery equipment I thought we might make up some shirts, but I have been told that is a bad idea and is asking for trouble, so I've ditched the idea. We don't need a cease and desist letter like ford-diesel.com got this summer.

I was just curious.

Ended up going with a licensed GM sponsor
to get my C-5 logo. I don't remember
how much the guy told me they had to pay
GM for each Jacket. It adds up.

Would say have the guy make you one, say
you found it at a thift shop. But knowing
Ford they might strip you naked in the
streets to get it off !!!!

I really can't say that I blame them. Is it really fair for people to sell apparel using a concept created by someone else? The answer if you are the creator is an emphatic NO! But obviously those wishing to capitalize on someone elses ideas and inventions may wish to believe otherwise.

I don't have much sympathy for the auto
makers. Some of the makes titles can be
traced back further than their little set
of wheels. So some are not an original
name. Even emblems can seen in periods
before auto, appliances, etc.

As far marketing they better "get" while the
getting is good. I'm sorry spent the money
on vette jacket now. The newness of the
car has worn and don't even wear it.
It don't take long for the whoop whoop
to be gone. Won't be long till the Bird
will be old news too.

Agreed, I remember plenty of big whoop cars that have been made that are not worth much now. Remember the Indy Pace car Camero? And of course all of the other anniversary edition cars.

I was fortunate enough to spend a few year in the car business which helps some become immune to new car fever.

I always say if you've got the money, spend it though. I could never understand the average "Joe Blow" people that would come in trying to decide if they could cram that 700.00+/month Expedition payment into their debt.
