UPDATE EMAIL ADDRESS
I've had the car about two weeks and have driven it very little due to weather. I had noticed a tiny oil stain under the car (about the size of a penny) and dismissed it as packing oil or something that came of a frame member. Yesterday, though, I drove the car about 50 miles. When I got back in the garage I noticed it was smoking under the hood, coming up from the exhaust system. There's oil on the passenger side cross member leaking down on to the exhaust. Does this sound like a loose filter or a bad gasket seal? I'm calling the dealer this morning.

I HAD AN OIL LEAK AT 4500 MILES. TURNED OUT TO BE A FAULITY OIL FILTER THAT WAS CHANGED AT 3000 MILES. DEALER REPLACED AT NO CHARGE. HAPPY MOTORING 02TBIRD
