Hey folks,

I just became the proud owner of a 1957 project. The engine and transmission (Ford-O-Matic) were out of the vehicle (both overhauled) and are currently sitting on a pallet. Earlier today I picked up the engine-trans and had them loaded, still mounted on the pallet, onto my truck.

I would like to know the best way to lift the engine so I can get it into the garage. I have a cherry picker hoist and engine leveler. What are the best places to attach the chains from the leveler? Note that the engine is complete with aluminum heads (from John Mummert in El Cajon, CA), intake manifold, and new exhaust manifolds already installed.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

I just put my engine back into my 1956. I actually used the exhaust bolt holes on the head. Make sure you use grade 8 blots.
Since you have aluminum heads with manifolds installed, i guess you have to use a carb plate or an engine strap.
