Greetings all -

I'm putting back 'em up sensors on my TB. According to the instructions, I should be able to get away with mounting the sensors on the black pods on either side of the plate. Has anyone taken the pocket out? Does it involve complete disassembly of the bumper cover? The 'sploded view shows that everything is separate, but gives no indication of what's involved. (And, yes, a shop manual is on my X-mas list. 🙂 )

Thanks in adavance!

I have an extra assembly and just looked at it. The entire piece starting with the chrome surround is one piece and there are slots / holes around the hiden part of that chrome.
So, although I didn't get under the car, you may be able to remove it from under there. If not, then I would assume that the entire cover would have to come off to get at it. If so let me know, I may have the bumper cover removal pdf file.

I looked up under there (been a long time since I've been on my back under a Bird 😱) and could see some bolts. I guess they are related. We'll try backing them off and see what happens. If you can lay hands on the removal file, could you check it and let me know if there's anything relevant in there?

Many thanks!

Yes there is. There are 8 screws that hold it onto the bumper cover. If I send it to you, you can probably figure it out. I am not technically inclined, but I can get it to you.
Just PM me your email address and we'll see if it's any help to you..

Well, I guess I don't have PM status. If you could send it to mccramb@*********, I'd appreciate it. Going to be a fun weekend tearing apart the Bird. And hopefully getting all the pieces back together.

Thanks

Sending this AM, good luck

Any luck with removing that pocket??? Or maybe you got too busy. It would make good winter work😎

Actually went pretty well. Pull apart and running wire took a while. Then I had to put it all back. I'll put a picture up when I get a chance. Ended up not removing the pocket, though it did help to know how it assembled.

Thanks!

Glad to have helped. Your's will be the 1st Bird I know of that has those sensors.
