KBS Coatings trunk and floor repair--1962 Thunderbird

Discussion in '1955 - 1966 Classic Ford Thunderbird' started by Thomas Davis, Dec 29, 2018.

  1. Here's what the website claims: "KBS Coatings’ 3-STEP SYSTEM of RustSeal (a rust preventive coating), KBS Klean (an industrial strength water-based cleaner / degreaser) and KBS RustBlast (a powerful rust remover / metal etch) is the most effective rust and corrosion prevention system available today." So, has anybody used these products. I am interested in applying sound deadening over the floor and trunk areas and this approach seemed to ensure proper degreasing/cleaning and sealing. I am not concerned with deviating from original condition if the product or part performs better. Anyway, this is why I am asking for any feedback. Thanks.

  2. I used that in my trunk and interior floor pans where rust was starting to eat through. I did exactly as the instructions said and it worked out great. I still have a lot of the Rust Blast and Rust Klean left over that I use on anything I paint that is rusty.

The insulation I used was a a 24' roll from JC Whitney that cost about $60 a few years ago. I can't find it on their website now.

Here's my post using it on the interior: http://www.fordthunderbirdforum.com.../our-rides/15172-59-gift-to-my-daughter/page4

  3. Very happy with results. Preparation is key but the cleaners and sealer are as good as advertised.

  4. POR15 you can never go wrong with that stuff. A lot of steps, but when dry and cured it’s hard as stone.
