From what I've read, both the speedo and tach cables can be pulled out and lubricated with white lithium grease or Graphite oil to stop the dial from jumping. If so, can they be pulled out at the output side (gauge) or at the input side? Thanks for any thoughts and help you can provide and thanks for reading!

I dont know about t-birds but its probably the same--I disconnect at the speedo and pull my inner cable out on most of my Fords. Try it,let us know

My 1955 T-Bird does the same thing, but the speedometer is also very noisy. I removed the inner speedometer cable from the housing, and from the speedometer side of the cable, cleaned it and lubricated it in graphite oil. Unfortunately, there was no change at all. It looks like I will have to remove the speedometer and look for lubrication points on the speedometer itself. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to look for?

I did the exact same thing on Saturday with the exact same results. Today I must figure out how to remove the speedo and stop the noise. My speedo still works, the needle does not jump, and the noise coming from the unit is a grinding/vibrating sound.
