Looking for a good battery box paint as close to original as possible. Sometning with an acid resistant addative if possible.

In my 1956 Bird, I stripped and cleaned the box, then on the bottom of the box where the battery rests I used black spray-on bed liner. Everywhere else including the heat shield got painted gloss black as stock.

With the battery in place, you can't even see the rougher bedliner finish.

In the mean time since i posted, i sandblasted the box and found it rotted more than i wanted to spend the time to repair it. So, i ordered a new one and ordered a special mat that resists any acid from
getting to the bottom of the box. The hold down cover and heat shield were excellent.
