My wife just retired from the US Army a month ago and we shipped our flawless Thunderbird Blue 2002 Thunderbird from New Jersey to Italy where we have our primary retirement home. It was shipped in a sealed container but was first held at a warehouse in Bayonne, New Jersey before it was loaded into the container in Newark, NJ.for shipping to Genova, Italy. The container was unsealed in front of me at the port in Genova and it was then that I discovered that someone back in New Jersey had stolen the black plastic manifold cover that reads "Thunderbird V8" on it. While the warehouse people pass the buck to the dock loading people and vice versa deciding who is going to pay for the replacement (if anyone) I need to find the replacement. FORD claims it will cost $94. Have any alternative to offer?

Please email me at citronrd@*********

Thank you.

I do not have a source for your part, but do have a question regarding my 2004. My chrome wheels have delaminated inside the tire area causing a leak. Ford wants $1700 at last check for a new wheel. Got any suggestions?

Watch ebay... one just sold there for $400. It might be cheaper still to have your old wheel sand blasted & re-chromed. Make sure it is a high quality re-chrome shop so the chrome finish will match your other three wheels.

OR, if the chrome is not delaminating on the outside visable part of the wheel, why can't they sandblast or grind the inside lip of the wheel?

I had that same issue on my Caddy and assumed it was a slow leak. So I took it to the local tire store to fix the leak.
Before he took the car in he said, I bet there's nothing wrong with the tire. He was correct. He told me he gets this issue constantly with aluminum wheels.
He explained that the aluminium oxidizes and causes the chrome to peal and therefore the leaks. Took the tire off, cleaned the inside rim and coated it, and put the tire back on. I think it cost $20.00. He said it would last about a year.....3 years later, with no further issues, I traded the car in.
