Maybe to expand this thread to include some of the members detailing hints and questions, I have a question for you folks.....

We have very hard water at our house and I'm starting to accumulate water spots on the car. I'm going to claybar and Zaino the car over the next few weekends. Have any of you got an secrets or tricks to keeping hard water spots at bay?

I already wash the car in the garage and dry it off immediately after washing, but to no avail.

Hansenisu,
This may sound strange, but since you wash the car in the carage, have you thought about bottled water? At Albersons here in Texas they sell water for $0.25 a gallon if you have your own container. They also sell empty bottles up to 5 gallons in size if needed. I have two 1 gallon bottles that I fill for my coffee water at work. I have seen the water dispensers at other stores in our travels, so it shouldn't be hard to find someplace to buy 5 gallons to wash a car. I have washed our '57 with a trashcan out of a motel room when we're traveling and it works OK.
Just a thought......

Well, I don't know anything about preventing water spots...no matter how quickly I dry the car I have them...but I did discover that the clay bar will completely remove all water spots. The chrome around my windshield always showed them the worst and I was AMAZED after I clayed that area. It looked perfect.

Bottled water? Oh yeah, then my wife would call the care unit on me and put me in a 28 day program somewhere. I think I'll live with the claybar treatment!!

Thanks.
