Battery was completely dead ( or not) Jumped per owner manual. Started -- Disconnected cables-- Ran for five minutes. Shut off and thought why not?

Turned the key and the darn thing started. What gives??

Battery Charger now on just in case.

The battery was not dead. A 'film' developed on the battery terminals to stop the connection. Clean the terminals with a copper wire brush, cover the terminals with grease and re-install. It won't happen again.

Since I was a teenager I thought you first sandpapered or brushed the terminals and cable clamps and then made the connection. The grease came last as to prevent oxygen and moisture from getting in? I believe there was also a red colored sealer you could also brush on?
