Dash Lights not working on 1966

Hey all,

My dashboard lights don’t come on when I turn my headlights on ... anyone have a trick?

Guy I bought it from swears they worked for him so thinking might be something simple

I know it sounds daft, but once the switch is turned on have you tried turning the knob clockwise and anti clockwise to see if the dash lights come on.
 
Frosty may have something. My old switch had a "dead" spot at the brightest setting, just before it turned on interior lights. Guess it was in that position forever and just backing it off the slightest made them the interior lights come on...
