For cars in general, the check engine light has killed more sales of cars than anything in the history of mankind.

Gas cap (not tightened) is high up there too. By the way, Chrysler charges if it finds your gas cap not tightened.

I have recently purchased an OBD II (code reader) for about $75 or so. I bought one that was top of the line. Not only does it give the numeric codes, but it give the definition of the code #. Device will also erase codes.

You can use these code readers on any American car. Just plug it in the special jack on the car.
