Any tricks on attaching the bleeder hose to the front bleeder screws on a '57, with drum brakes? The bleeder screws are almost directly behind the spindle, and there is very little room to attach the bleeder hose. My black rubber hose had too thick a sidewall thickness, and a clear surgical grade hose had thinner thickness, but still would not stay on the bleeder screw. Are there shorter bleeder screws that would allow more clearance? There appear to be a lot of threads exposed on the bleeder screw once it is tight in the cylinder.
One wheel has a replacement wheel cylinder, the other I think is stock, but they both seem to have the same clearance issue.
Not sure why the factory would have put the bleeders in such an awkward position.

Anyone else had this problem, and have any suggestions?

Ralph

My bleeder kit has 90 degree hose adapters. Maybe you could find a set of those.
