Ashtray and Cool Air Intake System

Two Questions, the first is kind of dumb. I just purchased a 2004 T-Bird with 7500 miles, I'm very happy, but where the heck is the ashtray. The sheets list one but I can'f find it. I do have the heated seats and the switches may be placed where the ashtray normally goes. Does anyone know?

I have seen the cold air intakes with the air filters that need to be coated with a reddish oil-like substance. I have one of these on my Ford Explorer, and it does run stronger, but I keep ruining oxygen sensors. I don't want to screw up this T-bird as it is out of warranty and it is much more complex than the Explorer. Are any of you running this thing?

My '04 didn't have one either and I stole the one out of my wife's '05 explorer. It fits into one of the cup holders in the center console.

I have the K&N CAI on my '04 and haven't had any problems whatsoever. It definitely improves the midrange acceleration and sounds great when you goose it. You might try the Borla Exhaust System also and the XCal if you're looking for extra HP.

The Thunderbirds did come with "Ashtray/Toll coin cup" and I suspect it's either lost or in your trunk or glove box.

Monty is correct it fits into the console and you can buy them. In fact Monty may want to replace his wife's.😀 Here's the data I just supplied to another member recently:

By the way, for any members with a 2002 or 2003, this same cup will fit. The only difference is the color - the 02/03 is grey when compared to the black 04/05 cup - it's not too noticeable unless you have good light on the part. With hard or soft top up, it wouldn't be noticeable but in direct sunlight with tops off, you would notice the difference in shades.
They have the exact same mold numbers, etc. on the base which is unusual. Most color changes that I've seen on the tbird parts, at least show a slightly different code because of color changes.

Thanks, Guys. I did the K& N and a computer chip and exhaust cat-back on my Explorer (6 cylinders). That combo really made a big difference. As to the T-Bird, I still have to make some payment adjustments before messing with anything. Just wondering for when I can't stand not to do something to make it mine. I runs great. I know I will change the tires and eventually the shocks. I saw some on that Thunderbird site but they were over two grand. No way on that one. Sure love my Bird, except the black paint in Arizona, but with 7500 miles I just will live with it. It is still beautiful with the sand trim interior. Thanks, again.
