The 1955 6V battery is a group 2 N and the 1956 and 1957 is a group 29 NF. The group 29 NF battery for 1956/57 models is available from the following sources:

NAPA, OE Exact Replacement. 390CCA 29NF BCI
Interstate Battery, part number 29NF VHD
O’Reilly Auto Parts, part number SSB 29NF

Hope this helps.

Thanks, but any idea if the group 29 is the same size as the Group 2N?
I believe the battery tray is the same size for 1955, 1956 and 1957. Group 2N is 6 volt and group 29 is 12 volt. It looks like group 2N is: 10" x 5 9/16" x 8 15/16", and group 29 is: 13" x 5 1/2" x 8 15/16".
