I am planning to replace the front upper control arms and want to know if the bolts on the tower can be removed with the strut remaining in place or does the strut need to be removed?

I just did mine. struts out. its not bad. the most difficult part is the nut on upper control arm bolt that is inside the engine bay. If you have a ratcheting combo wrench its doable... Slow but doable.
The passenger side is a little more accessible but still fiddly. sockets with swivel extensions come in handy, fresh supply of patience.
