Great Day for a drive in North Texas, Not yet able to assemble a flock of DFW T-birds for a mass migration, And having cabin fever over the Covid-19 panic, I planned an
escape in my 2004 PCR (Pacific Coast Roadster). Washed, vacuumed, and full of gas, ( the car, not me, ) I was ready for a solo trip, then the Red Headed wife, noticing the activity in the garage decided she wanted to go too.
"put the top down" she said, and I was stunned. Friend Wife normally does not like wind blowing her hair and normally stays out of the sun.
None the less, we headed North out of DFW on the old Preston Road through small towns and past beautiful semi wooded cow country. Lunch was in a small town Drive Inn (Sonic) before circling back East short of the Red River. Our return trip was back home on highway 69 again through small towns only North Texas have heard of like Bells, Whitewright, Farmersville, Princeton, and McKinney.
Coincidently, Whitewright was the home of the first owner of my PCR #824. Someday, I will look him up to express my appreciation for how well he took care of my car so I can enjoy it 15 years later.
Overall it was a great great getaway and the Red Head said she was ready to join me on the next trip.
Meanwhile, all you DFW Thunderbird owners need to know you missed a great afternoon trip and who knows, your significant companion might surprise you, too, by joining you and your bird for a local group tour maybe west and east on 544, Contact me if you are interested in joining us.
