2004 Radio doesn't turn off after key removal

My 2004 radio will not turn off when the key is removed. What can cause this? Thanks

Define my radio. After market or factory. Does it stay on until the battery is dead?
How long has this been happening?

My 2002, that I’ve had since it had 44 miles on it, did this the other day too. It has an aftermarket radio, but this is the first time that it’s happened. I ended up disconnecting the battery, and that made it turn off. Not an elegant solution,

Original radio will remain on after you turn off and remove your key for a few minutes (I think ~3) or you open your door.

Thankyou for your reply. The aftermarket radio stayed on until I disconnected the battery. About 15 minutes. It happened a couple of years ago one time. It just happened the one other just a couple of days ago. Thanks

The radio is an OEM with a jammed CD player.
