2004-2005 change shifter manual shifter

My question is, can you switch the regular shifter out and install the manual shifter +\-and this still work. Would there need to be a control module change as well.
I have a 2004 that I want to change over to the manual shifter out of a 2005.

Bringing this to the top because I am seeing theses select shift assemblies for the Lincoln LS readily available and cheap.
