just seeing how many have done this and how often should we be servicing this item and if this is a DIY or best saved for a experienced mechanic.

Since this is a closed hydraulic system there's no real need to change the fluid. It doesn't run long enough to get hot, and unless it is leaking it will never get low. I have forklifts in our shop with thousands of hours run time on the hydraulic fluid.
