What is the sensor located on top of the valve cover towards the front of the engine called? There is one one each side. I think mine has a slow oil drip.

Your Bird must be a 2003 to 2005 year. That is the control for variable valve timing.
They do leak some when old, believe you can get the rubber gasket from the dealer.

I mine replaced last year not at dealer , he said hard part to track down.... anyway had to remove valve covers and cost about 600. No more leak. But it never way leaking that much anyhow. But he saw it on my routine oil change. And so I figured might as well change them out. Car had 107 at time.

I am the search for the rubber gasket myself as that is all you will need to replace for the leak. I just started the search and have heard that Ford dId have it for sale years ago! No need to replace the solenoid and have to get the valve covers taken off unless you have running engine problems.

Found out the rubber seal that goes around the cam actuator solenoid “VVT” can be changed by only removing the seal it’s self. Remove using a flat tool such as a screw driver. The Amazon part number AJ 82856 the Ford part number is 2w92-6a545-aa. I called ford, they can order seals for about $8.00 each. Done.
