2002 T bird, brake lights don't work. Signal lights, backup lights and tail lights, work fine.

Up by the brake pedal arm is a switch that is activated by the application of the brake. It is a common switch easily found at most auto parts store & easily replacement.
This switch is your probable cause like you have pointed out the lights work correctly otherwise.

Finally got this fixed by having the brake light switch replaced. Everything working now. It also fixed the problem of not being able to move the shift out of park. Thanks to all.
