1994 hardly runs at all

My dad has this tbird and if I fix it it's mind. The car will idle but not good at all. If you lightly press the gas it will rev up to 6k rpm. Anymore gas and it dies. It doesn't have vacuum leaks, it gets all the gas it needs, brand new fuel pump, new wiring harness, new spark plugs, and mass airflow sensor. I used a scanner on it and it brought up a code for the high pressure purge valve/ solenoid. My step mom drove the car through a puddle once and this is were this whole issue started. Im not sure where to go from here so if anyone has any idea of what could be wrong please let me know.

Have you done a compression check? How about the slack in the timing chain?
What actual diagnostics have you done?
What engine is in the car?
 
I am going mostly off out what my dad has told me. I used a a scanner on it and tried testing some sensors. It has 3.8 v6 in it. I haven't done and compression test or looked at the timing chain. Like I said my step mom ran it through a puddle and it started having this issue
 
If it swallowed water it could have bent connecting rods.
