I plan on fixing by welding a bead on pivot so it doesn’t come through the bracket but has anyone ever installed the hood spring? Anyone have a technique to install hood hinge spring?

Hook the back end of the spring on the hinge and hook a fan belt on the front end of the spring and pull like hell. Maybe even get a helper.

look t you tube. stretch the new spring on a floor jack, then put large roundwashers in the gaps, then install it. when you close the hood the washers fall out. very easy. multiple methods on you tube.
