Since your post is not about doing a "disc brake conversion", I have revised your title. Good titles get more replies.

We'll there's several things to check. 1st thing to check is the booster, is it plumbed correctly, does it leak?
Is the rod from the booster to master cylinder adjusted correctly?
Is the porportioning valve plumbed correctly?
If the rear still has drums are they adjusted correctly?
There's a lot to check, but you didn't do the work.

I would still check everything with someone who knows braking systems. It;s incredible how many times I would run across “modified” components to find that some one did a mediocre job.

My FJ40 Land Cruiser had a power steering conversion… something was not right so I took it apart to find a Spacer on the steering shaft was a 3/4” hose barb fitting, sliced long ways and taped together and used as a filler….no support bearing and the unions were poorly tightened. Replaced several parts and it is now perfect

As you described, imagine the possibilities?

There are many discussions on here about disc brake conversions. When done right I've never heard somebody who said it wasn't worth the cost.
However there are many stories of how they don't work right. Its usually because a shop was used has no idea how things work but can look it up on the computer and swap parts.
Throw something like a conversion and are clueless and can't read directions, if it runs it's out the door.
Call around there should be somebody who knows how it works.
