1962 Carpet Installation - Replacement for Factory Sound Deadener?

Hello Folks,

I'm replacing the carpet on my 1962 Convertible. It appears that the carpet had been replaced once before, as all of the original sound deadener material is gone, and in its place is this insulating material (see picture).

It is about 1/2" thick and much more lightweight than the original factory sound deadener material. Can anyone with more experience tell me if this is a legitimate replacement for the factory sound deadener? It appears to be in good condition, so I'd just as soon re-use it but I figure now is the time if it needs to be replaced.

All observations and opinions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I have seen that material come with some inexpensive carpet that I have purchased in the past. It definitely does not look original in my opinion.
Yes, after further research there's no doubt that its not original, but it is in excellent condition.
I also used some Hushmat material left over from another project to replace the missing sound deadener and placed the foil-backed insulation betheen the carpet and the Hushmat. That should do it!
