Looking for someone that has installed an auto sound or classic sound systems rear speaker panel. This item has two 6X9" speakers already mounted to the panel. This item does not come with any instructions or pictures. Contacted these companies and they don't have anything. I am assuming that the panel goes in from the trunk side. Again, I am assuming. Any pictures of installed panels or advise will be appreciated.

The OEM Masonite panel on 55s is attached on the trunk side with metal tabs that are permanently attached to the surrounding sheet metal (unless you break them) and sheet metal screws (also inserted on the trunk side). I cut holes in mine for two 6 x 9 speakers and had the panel covered on both sides with black vinyl (my car is Raven Black/w black & white interior).

@Dan1957 since we are an all Ford Thunderbird site, you can omit the make/model of your car from the subject of future posts to shorten it. I've updated it.

57's did not have any panel in the back. Only a vinyl curtain with the same print as the trunk floor cover. 55 item only for a solid panel. Yours is something that was installed later. Just take a look and see how it is installed.

I'm pretty sure the aftermarket speaker panels also are installed from the trunk, but 56-57 cars will not have the metal tabs. Suppliers of the speaker panel should be able to tell you how to install it. I chose to use my original panel because I had specific speakers in mind. If you want to do the same, the Tbird suppliers sell the 55 trunk-divider panel.

Keep in mind that if you have a soft top in the down position, it will, to some extent, adversely affect the quality of sound coming from the speakers behind the seat. You'll probably want to roll/fold up the drop curtain as well.

Biddle, how do you like it?

I'm doing an Aurora AM/FM stereo conversion of the original radio/w USB to accommodate Spotify, but no external amplifier.
