Has anyone tried removing the seat track all together and bolted the seat right to the floor? I am a 6'4 fat boy and was thinking this may help. (1957 manual seat).

How do you even get into that thing Bigfoot. I am 5’9” and 165 lbs. and struggle to get behind the wheel. 57 birds were definitely a chick car. I heard a story once that John Wayne bought a 57 because he loved the look, but he never got to drive it because he could not fit into the seat. You sound more like a Caddy type of guy…

SHEER determination. LOVE those Caddies, but this is a family member.

I am only 5'11" but with a long torso and a bit over 300. The trick is to NOT restore the sagging seat cushions! 🤣 and make sure your steering wheel is fully collapsed. I find the bigger challenge is getting in and out without hitting my head if the top is installed.

I’m 6’2” but skinny. I didn’t have power steering so I’m pulling out the manual steering and putting in a Borgsen after market power unit. Then I’m putting in a detachable 14” race car steering wheel.

Pop the steering wheel off and get in like a normal person.

You can find really pretty aftermarket steering wheels.

A 14” wheel with power steering is the same setup as my 2017 Chrysler van. Loads of room and drives like a sports car.

I have a 55 with electric seat and I took it out with no problem. However, I don't believe you will achieve your goal of more room. If you do not have a soft top behind the seat you may be able to gain some room but probably not as much as you need.
Good luck

Dive in headfirst your feet are the last part in and the first part out. I'm 6 ft and 210 If the width is the problem the removable wheel kit, like a race car, might help.

Does anyone know how small a person must be to extend the telescopic wheel and raise the seat to it's max height and were they old enough to drive?

People were smaller in the 50s before hormones were added to our food. Now it is rare to see a 150 pound adult when it was the norm in the 50s. Look at the old movies, actors were paper thin and could fit in the TBirds.
