Took the fan off to get a wrench on the crankshaft. I’m wondering if I have the right bolts. Ford Illustrated Parts catalog identifies these bolts as #20447 but I can’t find this part # in the Ford Text catalog. The bolts I took out are 2 1/ 2” long. The fan has never fallen off, but the bolts seem a little short. Am I looking for the right part #? Do I have the correct bolts? If not, what length should I have?

There is one simple way to know if your bolts are the correct length. Measure the length (front to back) of the aluminum fan spacer. Then add about 3/8" to that dimension to include the thickness of the fan material (assuming it is a stock fan) and the thread engagement on the water pump mounting flange. This should give you a real close dimension.

uhh...not sure I follow. How deep into the waterpump should these bolts go? Thanks for the help.

The bolts you're describing don't go into the water pump. They go into the hub that's on the shaft that comes out of the water pump. There's usually a reasonable amount of clearance between the backside of that hub and the body of the water pump so you could usually use bolts that are at least a half inch longer than would be the bare minimum to make it all the way through that hub. When everything is installed and bolted down you should be able to see them sticking out the back of that hub and I would usually like to see them sticking out about 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch.
