My '56 has a vinyl roof which has a few wear mark's. We are weighing up whether to paint the vinyl or strip the vinyl and paint the roof. Anyone have any experiences they'd like to share?

I was told by old Ford mech that vinyl tops where placed on model's with roof imperfections. When I pulled my on my 64 that was definitely the case

That's unusual. Vinyl roof weren't used until the '70's. I'd go with stripping and painting. Can't duplicate the look of a real rag top.
