Hi! I am getting ready to paint the speedometer cluster on our '56. a previous owner had painted over the original paint. Question: Was the factory-applied paint textured? If so, how does a person recreate it? Thanks! Warren

This is a tricky Job, first you have to purchase the paint in the right color, you only need a small amount. it needs to be flattened and not a gloss finish. As for application, I use an air brush and adjust the settings so that it spits out paint in the right consistency to give you that textured look. Try it on a piece of scrap metal first to get the right texture. There may be others who have solved the problem with some other method. Good luck.
