1956 Bird gas gauge always says full

Discussion in '1955 - 1966 Classic Ford Thunderbird' started by fjrtony, Feb 12, 2019.

  1. gas indicator did not work so I replaced the sending unit in the tank. Now it always registers full. Any thoughts? Thanks

I would take the sending unit out of the gas tank and move the arm up and down to see what the Gage does. Are you sure you have the correct sending unit?

    possibly hooked up wires backwards?
  4. Found the solution from the FB group. Doug is right, the sending unit arm needed to be slightly bent up. Thanks all

The subject of your post is very important to get responses. "1956 Bird gas gauge" could mean anything. I've revised it for you to something more relevant.
  6. Thank you
