i have a 55, 292 Y block engine t bird that i think over heats. i have heard too many things like its the radiator flow, thermastate, hoses etc... I have changed all of those things and i still have it on the back of my mind that it is still over heatilng. i bought a laser gun to check the temps on the motor and at the thermastate its at 230, bottom of block 198, back of block 189-95 ish... i put a gauge on the inside and it marks 200 -220 ish, when i take off it starts to go back down. FYI when it gets to 220 ish it feels like the car wants to turn off. i just put it on nutural and give it some gas and that works.... is that normal... i also saw the the post on same issue and read the answer from doug7740. would that water pump help and becuse i now have an aluminum radiator with an electric fan. wouild the part of the pump for the fan be an issue. i want to do anything i can so i can drive it without thinking its running too hot.
