OK, my project of changing the trunk lock to match the glove box lock was going pretty well.
I bought a new trunk lock cylinder, and was able to just re-arrange the pins so my glove box key worked.
I took the trunk latch off, only to find there is a piece with a hook in the back of the existing cylinder, which makes contact with the latch. When the key is turned, the hook moves the latch lever up and unlocks.
How does this piece come off? It seems it may just be pressed in. Is it?
The hook protrudes just enough from the bolt that holds the lock to the trunk lid that I can't get the socket on it.
