1955 Starter Issues

Usually the starting problem is not ONE cause but several small issues. Most 6v batteries available are cheap and have minimal cranking amperage. Thats why my car has an optima. Battery cables can look good but have internal corrosion. Heck even a marginal ignition coil can cause a no start condition when hot. Been there. replaced that.
 
Has anyone discerned the actual cause for this. I have the exact same problem in my 55.
In post #14 he said he replaced the starter and it was fixed.
