If you look on page 53 of your owner's manual you will see that the two screws are pushed down into the windscreen panel.

Post does not meet subject criteria
Just bought an 02, has its original hardtop. Didn't have the tool, cart or cover. I'd like to be able to get the top off and check the soft top. Is there a good temporary tool I can use?

If you are just looking for a tool to do the job I recommend the multi-torx set that includes a T-40 from any auto parts store. I purchased mine from O'Reilly's and it works fine and is about $8. Having the "correct" tool was not important to me.
