Save yourself the cost of a top and take it to a professional. For the novice it has a difficulty level of 15 on a 1 to 10 scale.
 
Also most vinyl topped Fords of that era WILL have rust under the vinyl. That needs to be fixed and then to do it right the roof needs to be painted with a finish coat to help protect it. Ford usually jut put the top on it over primer which didn't help any
