I bought a 63 Tbird six months ago and have only driven it about 3 times. The first drive was fine until I got near home and the car began to surge and back fire a little under accelleration. Took it to mechanic and he replaced the worn out carburettor with a fully refurbished Holley carb. The 2nd drive was fine until after 30 minutes of driving I noticed the transmission would not change up to top gear. if I backed off the accelerator it would up shift for a second or so then back to second. I took it back to my mechanic and he lubricated the kick down rod. Made it home no problem. 4 weeks later[ yesterday] I took her out for a drive and the same thing again after about 30 minutes of driving, will not upshift to top gear . Managed to coast home slowly in second gear. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. My mechanic did lubricate kick down rod for free and did say to me if I have further trouble to maybe take the vehicle to a carburettor specialist. I am terrible at most things mechanical so I rely on good mechanics and good advice, thankyou for any help.
