Hi fellas. I've had my 1955 converted to 12 volt negative system. My fuel gauge is wildly off base (ran out once when it showed 3/8 of a tank). Gauge was off before the conversion, however. I've been reading all relevant threads here about fuel sending units, and frankly get really confused about all the references to ohm ranges. Can someone tell me perhaps just should I order a 1955 fuel sending unit or one for a 1956-57?

Ohms are a measurement of electrical resistance. However you may not need to replace the sending unit, you may need to calibrate the gauge.
I've read a post on here about how it's done.
A quick search may turn it up. I'm not good at posting links, maybe someone who is will be by soon.

Here is the article that I wrote on calibrating the fuel and temperature gauges on a 55/56 Thunderbird.
