Powermaster 82155-2 1956-1957 Ford Thunderbird PowerGEN Swing Mount Alternator

Hello all,
I have to replace the generator on our 1956 t-bird. purchased and installed

Powermaster 82155-2​

but i need to bypass the voltage regulator and unclear how to. I thought i had it by disconnecting and taping off ends.

the car started and ran for 25 miles fine and then the next day it started rough and died after .

now gen light does not come on[checked bulb it's fine]
I have removed the voltage regulator
car is not firing

any ideas ??
