Thunderbird Year
1981
Greetings,

I live in both South Dakota and Texas. My daily driver in Texas is a blue, 4-door Mercury Zephyr (1980), which I purchased in 1999. In South Dakota, I have had a white, 2-door Ford Thunderbird (1981) in my parents' garage for about 20 years. This was the first and last new car that I bought.

Also, I am restoring a blue, 4-door Ford Fairmont (1980). The vehicle has been outdoors in South Dakota for 17 years, where the winter tends to be cold and the summer hot. The car has little rust damage because it was treated with Ziebart undercoating when new. So, I think it is worth restoring the interior.

All the cars have an inline 6-cylinder engine, a one-barrel carburetor, and automatic C4 transmission. These are the only cars that I have owned. Other vehicles from this period that interest me include the Ford Granada/Mercury Monarch, Ford Crown Victoria/Mercury Grand Marquis, and the Lincoln Continental/Town Car.

As restoration has been challenging, I will be posting for advice on specific issues.
