Good day everyone, I am new to this site. I have a 64 Landau (Black), California car that has made it's way to Ontario Canada. I have been restoring it off and on for about 10 years. I am now retired so I have been put a lot of time into it lately.
Has anyone got a good picture of their fuse panel they could post, it must be from a car that has A/C, power windows and the convenient package (warning lights) and a power driver's seat.
Here is what I have run into.
#1 Ford had a problem with brake light switch failing so a relay had to be added.
#2 with some of the options added the wiring diagrams don't show the correct wiring
#3 the brake lights only work when key is turn on (run and accessory) because a "buss bar" was cut. This bar being cut is not only on my car but one random picture I found on the internet of a 64 fuse panel had the same cut "buss" bar. This bar used to connect the upper right circuit breaker (always live) to the one below it which is the brake light circuit breaker. This would be fine but both my car and the random picture from internet have a factory looking green wire that joins the brake light circuit breaker to the heater A/C breaker. If this buss bar connection is restored the heater A/C fan can run without turning the key on. Anyone got any thought on this? Something to do with it being an A/C car. Did it have anything to do when Ford added the brake light relay? Did Ford design this car for brake lights only to come on when key was turned on (highly unlikely but strange things have happened long ago).
Thanks in advance to anyone who responds. PS I removed the cut Buss bar.
